Reiki energy healing
QWhat is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced Ray Key) is a combination of two Japanese words rei and ki meaning universal life energy. It is an ancient Japanese folk art that may have originated in Tibet and uses universal life force energy to heal. It is given through the hands of an individual who has been attuned to the energy.
Reiki was rediscovered by Mikao Usui about 100 years ago. The knowledge has been passed on through Chujiro Hayashi, one of Usui’s students in Japan, and Hawayo Takata, who brought the practice to the western world after experiencing a healing in Hayashi’s clinic. Today, Reiki is accepted throughout the world as an effective complementary approach to healing.
Reiki is an ancient laying-on of hands healing technique that uses the life force energy to heal, balancing the subtle energies within our bodies. Reiki addresses physical, emotional, mental and spiritual imbalances. This healing art is an effective delivery system. The practitioner serves as a vessel that supplies healing energies where they are most needed. Reiki’s ki-energies flow out of the practitioner’s body through the palms of the hands while they are touching the recipient’s body.
QWhat does a Reiki treatment feel like?
Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.

QWhat can I expect during a Reiki treatment?
Typically, a treatment will take about an hour. The client remains fully clothed and lying down on a therapeutic table. The practitioner will place his/her hands on specific spots on the head, torso and back; usually leaving the hands in each position for about five minutes. Normally there will be a deep sense of relaxation, and at times there may be a sensation of the energy working in the body.
All clients feel relaxed after a session; some clients feel a sense of warmth in specific areas, tingling, and sensations of releasing, see colours, or experience lightness. After your session, we recommend you drink plenty of water to wash away toxins released by the body.
Sessions are typically scheduled once a week or every 2 weeks. Each session is accumulative in maintaining the free flow of your energy centers and self-healing is in layers. No two sessions are alike.
A minimum of 4 sessions is recommended for new clients. Additional sessions or a maintenance wellness plan will be assessed with the client.
QWill Reiki interfere with other treatments or procedures?
A treatment will not interfere with other types of treatment. In fact, people who are receiving treatments using other modalities find that healing occurs more rapidly.
