Therapeutic Touch, a contemporary interpretation of several ancient healing practices, is a consciously directed process of energy exchange during which Practitioners use their hands as a focus for facilitating healing. Dolores Krieger, Ph.D., R.N. and her colleague, Dora Kunz, first brought this technique to our attention as a modern healing method in 1972.
Now, with a base of solid and continuing research, Therapeutic Touch is being taught and practiced throughout the world. It is taught at numerous universities and colleges in Canada and the United States. It is being accepted in the policies and procedures of an increasing number of health care institutions worldwide and as a nursing intervention in a number of Ontario hospitals.
