Hypnotherapy Is...

Hypnotherapy is applying therapeutic techniques while in a state of hypnosis by a Certified Hypnotherapist. Hypnosis is a natural state of relaxation. This relaxation is a common part of our human experience--while we’re watching TV, getting lost in a good book, in meditation, falling asleep, driving, daydreaming or in a creative activity. It is a heightened state of focus and concentration which is necessary to create change.

The purpose of hypnotherapy is to bring about subconscious change to our thoughts, feelings and behaviour to promote health and healing. Unlike talk therapy that allows the client to understand things on an intellectual level, hypnotherapy works with the subconscious mind where 90% of our brain power is deprived, making it very powerful.  It is where all our memories and beliefs are stored, where our emotions are generated, and where our imagination lies. 

Counselling is a great compliment to Hypnotherapy. Counselling should feel collaborative and empowering, working to take you from where you are, to where you need to go by identifying what is in the way. Counselling is a non-judgemental client-centred, and compassionate communication process. 

Implementing both modalities allows for powerful change consciously and subconsciously taking advantage of the mind-body connection to foster healing.  By working this way, we can interpret habitual patterns, reframe belief systems and tap into emotional drives at a core level. This will initiate a change in perception and emotional attachment to certain experiences in our lives which keep us feeling stuck.

*Note: Energy Healing modalities may be incorporated into individual sessions if it is decided between the client and Certified Hypnotherapist Michelle Pena to be useful and supportive based on the needs of the client.
