Natural Fertility treatments help to ensure that each potential parent is in optimal reproductive health, with a healthy body terrain, ideal for the creation of a healthy baby.
QWhat is Natural Fertility Care?
Our Natural Fertility Care Program aims to prepare both men and women’s reproductive system towards optimal health to improve the chances for a natural and healthy conception, pregnancy, labour and baby. We work with both the female and male hormone cycles of the body through the use of herbal medicine, homeopathy, acupuncture, detoxification, IM or IV nutritional therapy, dietary changes, lifestyle changes, fertility counselling, and fertility cycle awareness training.
With the increase of chemical, emotional and physical stress bombarding our bodies; it is easy to understand how fertility rates are declining. Naturopathic medicine works to correct these stressors and lessen the burden on the body resulting in fertility.
Saliva Hormone Testing and Bio-identical Hormones
pureBalance Wellness · Cancer Care offers saliva hormone testing, it is an accurate and non-invasive way to determine hormone imbalances in the body. For women, the Female Hormone Panel measures the hormones estradiol, progesterone, cortisol, DHEA-S, and testosterone. Bio-identical hormones may also be recommended based upon outcomes of the hormone test. Bio-identical hormones are much safer than conventional pharmaceutical hormones as they are identical to those produced in your body and have no adverse effects. Recommendation of bio-identical hormone therapy requires a saliva hormone panel and a complete Naturopathic assessment.
Naturopathic treatment of infertility is based on bringing the couple’s health back into balance. Optimizing nutrition, eliminating offending stressors in the lifestyle, and treating underlying health conditions are all part of the process. The treatments will address those with endometriosis, PCOS, low sperm counts, hormonal imbalances, irregular menstrual cycles, and other unexplained infertility concerns.
QCan natural therapies combine with conventional medical treatments?
We are happy to work with couples undergoing conventional medical fertility treatments such as IUI and IVF to help improve chances of pregnancy. Acupuncture and other treatments are offered pre and post egg retrieval and transfer. Acupuncture is commonly used as part of the treatment process. A recent study in the British Medical Journal published on February 7, 2008 shows there is evidence that acupuncture given with embryo transfer improves rates of pregnancy and live birth among women undergoing in-vitro fertilization. In addition, there is evidence that acupuncture decreases the rate of miscarriages. Even if couples are not going through conventional medical treatment for fertility, acupuncture can greatly improve chances of conception.
QWhen should we start Natural Fertility Care?
It is recommended that six months of fertility health care be completed. This includes an initial detoxification program to help remove environmental toxins from sperm, eggs, uterus and the balancing of the male and female hormone cycle.
QWhat happens when I get pregnant?
Once pregnancy has been achieved, our Naturopathic Doctors can continue to follow your care with our complete Well Pregnancy Program ensuring a healthy, natural pregnancy. Our program includes management of all pregnancy related ailments, postpartum care, nutritional and herbal lactation support and introduction of your new baby into our Well Child Program.
