Breast Health – Part 2 of 5

Breast Health - Part 2 of 5

How many of your have gotten your “sweat on” since the first blog about breast health? This scorching weather has practically made a sauna outside right now!

The second part to enhancing our breast health is through nutrition. Each of us has individual nutritional needs. Some of us do well eating a vegetarian diet, while others seem to need animal protein. Some women react to dairy products, others gluten, corn, or nuts and seeds.

All things considered, a healthy nutritional profile is KEY to a help prevent breast cancer.

Have you heard of phytochemicals? Phytochemicals are plant constituents that are effective in fighting cancer. Consider adding these to our daily intake:

Allyl Sulfides:

Help the liver to detoxify carcinogens and are found in GARLIC, ONIONS and LEEKS.

Help protect the cells from damage. These are found in SPINACH, KIWI, TOMATO, & GRAPES.

These neutralize carcinogens (which we are exposed to daily i.e. in shampoo/ cosmetics). Found in ROSEMARY & PAU D’ARCO Tea.

Lastly, let your kitchen be a hub for healing! Turmeric, Rosemary, and Ginger are wonderful herbs for healing. Turmeric has antioxidant, anti-tumour and anti-inflammatory properties. Rosemary helps to maintain healthy intestines (don’t heat over 200 F, it loses it’s effectiveness). Ginger is immune stimulating.

*Ginger: avoid in early pregnancy, during labour.

These nutritional pearls are just the tip of the iceberg! There is so much more we can do to enhance our breast health nutritionally. If you are interested in learning more about your individual needs, book a 15-minute free consultation at the clinic!
