Canadians believe we need a national dementia strategy. A recent Nanos survey showed 83% of Canadians reported they believe Canada needs a national dementia strategy. This has prompted organizations like the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada and key politicians like former interim Liberal leader Bob Rea to echo this message.
The plan would be that the Federal Government to bring together a partnership of dementia experts, government officials, health-care providers, researchers and Canadians impacted by the disease. In my opinion dementia will be a big stress on Canadian families and the health care system in years to come. Canada is already spending billions on dementia alone and that number will balloon as our population continues to age. Naturopathic Doctors (ND) are a key piece of the puzzle, many NDs already are doing great work with their dementia patients.
